Nice Things To Right In A Baby Card

MUSICA - SOCIETA' - MEDIA / CONCERTI ESTEMPORANEI ONLINE: "BandstandBusking", "The MusicSessions".

Party a book that will explain and discuss the relationship between music in the third millennium and the novelty of its use 'social' through the various existing media. And 'is significant that Myriam Bardino conclude this piece by writing' the search for alternative channels for promoting music also exists in the digital age ', but do not want to anticipate anything, I leave you enjoy this important article. (wally)

In recent years there is a tendency to film artists who perform in different places from the stage. Usually, these events are professionally sound and video clips from independent filmmakers. A stand against The fashion spread to put movies on the internet, poor quality of the concerts recorded by fans around the world through their phones. Movies whose result is to create a distorted idea of \u200b\u200bthe artist and event. The acoustic music sessions are filmed by young independent filmmakers and are the result of an encounter between cinema and music that gives the viewer a different way to learn about the artists and intimate. movies often spontaneously, in a break from the recording studio or between an interview and another, between two stages of the tour, the artists give the impression of playing more 'for their fun to perform another task promotion. A modern way of documenting the music and the artist to carve out a different place and quality 'to express themselves, which seems to have agreed to a large number of artists like The Kooks , National , Beirut , Patrick Watson , Piers Faccini and many, many others.

The idea of \u200b\u200bthese sessions and music 'started from Chryde (pictured at right), the founder of Blogotheque who wanted to find a different way share music over the Internet. The meeting with Vincent Moon (pictured at left), French independent filmmaker, and 'was crucial to be able to publish videos of musical quality' beyond reproach. It has been almost five years and has accumulated Blogotheque more 'than 200 artists live in unlikely places (churches, fountains, markets, zoos, lounges, elevators, subways, shops ...) and given the success of the action of the public, Burberry also wanted to begin its live sessions: Burberry Acoustic , dressing young budding musicians. During these five years, also appeared in places that use Internet sites to sound quite unique and original artists. From the London taxi BlackCabSessions , the dry cleaning of DirtyLaundryTV the balconies around the world BalconyTV , down to the gazebo park in London BandstandBusking . For a complete list of the various sites offering the live sound, you can click on TheMusicSessions .

A festive occasion, celebration and pure sharing of music that often gets lost at the expense of the classic form: the stage, set pre-set to 90 minutes, amplification and lighting spot-lights. The search for alternative channels exist to promote music in the digital age, a different angle to consider a musician, with one condition: Do not wear a Burberry raincoat.

PIETRE MILIARI - TIM BUCKLEY: “Goodbye and Hello” (1967, Elektra)

Speaking of Tim Buckley without falling into rhetoric or already heard, is not an easy task. I wanted to, here, consider his first masterpiece (and Buckley's masterpiece has made five, three of which are among the greatest of all rock), "Goodbye and Hello" , his second album released from ' Elektra in 1967, when Buckley was just twenty years. His talent was discovered in 1966 by producer Paul Rotchild (who also discovered the Doors and many other artists that led to Elektra), which are produced in the same year homonymous album that showed only part of the great potential of its author (the disc contains beautiful songs, but suffer from some of the arrangements' standard, although well made, of Jack Nitzsche).
"Goodbye and Hello" shows an author already incredibly ripe to be made by a little more than a teenager. We note first of all the great
introversion background, which contrasts with the beautiful smiling face of Tim depicted on both sides of the cover. The anti-militarist No Man Can Find The War introduces us into his inner world, which in hindsight, has little in common with most of the freaks and hippies of the time. Tim was un'introverso apart from that type of current youth, even if they reflected many moods. His vocal style and his voice was starting to take on the characteristics that make then known to posterity, or a voice of great experimentation commitment stretched to nearly an 'anxiety about the search for new forms of timbre and expressive.
The disc continues with a wide range of styles and influences, from vaudeville circus Carnival Song the country-rock elegy Once I Was , the funeral Pleasant Street (the unforgettable verse in which Buckley sings: " down, down, down ..." down, down, down, fino agli abissi più profondi ) alla veemente I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain , che apriva il lato B del disco. Sono però almeno quattro i capolavori che svettano sugli altri: la stupenda elegia Phantasmagoria In Two , forse la più bella canzone d’amore di tutti i tempi il cui testo è davvero alta poesia, la conclusiva e struggente Morning Glory (coverizzata vent’anni dopo dai This Mortal Coil ), la psichedelia finissima di Hallucinations , in cui il suo stile si avvicina addirittura saudade and to the long and orchestrated Goodbye and Hello , which basically includes two sections of tracks in a single body, as if Buckley had a dialogue with his alter ego.
not had much commercial success of the album, as it was in fact predictable and Buckley began to have serious drug problems (in fact he died young in 1975 because of an overdose) and only with the help of his friend Frank Zappa , who believed in him much as a musician and as a man, there could be short (in the 1969/1971 biennium) to achieve his greatest masterpieces that will touch one of the highest peaks of rock, but that's another history and needs another review.

BOOK REVIEWS: “Non si deve morire due volte” di Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma (2010, Giano Ed., Euro 17, 50)

Dead Manuel Vasquez Montalban is more than eighty Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma to maintain the role of poet of the time that Barcelona was, through the character of older inspector Mendez, who knows the sad and disillusioned from all corners of the city, a city that changes rapidly under his eyes and is losing its connotations most sincere and popular to sell to the logic of the market, working class neighborhoods are displaced by anonymous and no claims made places of offices, agencies, clubs, skyscrapers where man is alone with his fate. "Good architects act as counter-revolutionaries, even if they do not know" think a character contemplating the changing city. But Mendez, police are allergic to the rules and conformity, and historical memory is an integral part of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bits dark streets, its smoky bars and noisy which was thronged until late at night gamblers, prostitutes, thieves, poets, vagabonds and dreamers, is the pure air of the residential areas that hurts the lungs from Mendez, who are used "fresh enough known, fetid, heavy and full of history " bars of Barrio Chino . In this
Barcelona dominated by the god of money, in which "the capitalist state has meant that there are no more revolutions, and soon will ensure that there are more cigarettes , unravels the plot of this film noir tough and bitter they move heinous killers, Islamic terrorists, pedophiles, unscrupulous businessmen, and in which three stories that intersect only at the end find a common link.
Again Gonzalez Ledesma give us a great noir to enjoy page after page, but also an opportunity to reflect on the progress that the globalized world is forcing us and confirms that gender is now, at least in its best authors, is shows better able to help us read the world around us. Conclude this review with another quote fulminant choice among many that the book suggests, and that is somehow a key to the whole work of the author Catalan: "The Revolutions makes people feel better on the road than at home against those who are better at home or on the street. BASSA FEDELTA' - OBLIVIANS : "Popular favorites" (Sep 10 1996, Crypt Rec.)

The reunion two years ago and Oblivians Gories with attached mini Italian tour, as well as some very personal considerations on the state of rock and roll me back to listening straight through (which continues to this day!) of some old records of the bands mentioned above. Oblivians The coming Memphis (TN) were and are Greg, Jack and and Eric, as you can imagine, they do not last Oblivians (as already Ramones). Same training as Gories to three, with two guitars and drums. The absence of the lower hardly notice, thanks to the rhythmic pounding stomp of school Bo Diddley that our able to impose. "Popular Favorites" is the band's second album after the excellent debut "Soul Food" (1995 Crypt) and includes recordings made by December 20, 1995 to January 1996.
A period of the first half of the nineties not quite favorable for these sounds (not yet had the echo caused by heavy grunge) that will find a fact, albeit brief and modest "revenge" in the second half, thanks to bands like the Oblivians, with a strong attitude lo-fi . Christina , the opening track is a true statement: desperate rock'n'roll to limit the noise ( Part of your plan ) or at least in perfect balance. Here the country and the blues are a new form, one might almost venture a comparison with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and the , except that the trio of Memphis sounds much more raw ( You Fucked Me Up You Put Me Down ) and low fidelity ( Do the milkshake ).
Three albums and then, just as the Gories and then break ranks!
However, the components of the respective bands will continue with various projects: Dirtbombs, Demolition Doll Rods and as regards the Oblivians Reigning Sound, to name the main ones. Also Eric Friedl "Oblivians" build the Goner Records label specializing in garage-lo-fi sound. Label for which affect Jay Reatard , revealed the new phenomenon of the American scene in low fedeltà.Ecco, I wanted to remember this great band, able to recover the tradition of a 'healthy and warm' rock 'n' roll to ferry today. Now a little 'chilly to be honest!

THE FUZZTONES: "Preaching to the Perverted" (2011, Stag-O-Lee)

's been 26 years since the release of "Lysergic Emanations" the album that has consecrated the Fuzztones between the milestones of the '80s garage. And you can not hide the fact that they all feel in "Preaching to the Perverted" , the last work that the group has just published for the German Stag-O-Lee . Anche i testi sono diventati a tratti più maturi (in Launching Sanity's Dice viene evocata pure l'amletica citazione “to be or not to be ”) e perfino malinconici, come quando Rudi nel brano Old ripete quasi cantilentando frasi come "I'm old/I'm old and wise/I'm old/I don't get any younger/I'm old/I'm lucky just to be alive" .
Nell'insieme comunque il disco è decisamente piacevole, sebbene contenga un paio di brevi episodi finali that maybe they could stay out, Bound To Please where Protrudi sings along with keyboardist Lana Loveland and Come To Me . But throughout the first half of the disc does not regret the old days too. Much has also been pressing the body Loveland reminiscent of the unforgettable Deb O'Nair , but songs like My Black Cloud, Flirt, & Hurt Desert, Between the Lines, Invisible are those that remain in the head after hearing them a couple of times without you even realize it had. The first hearing
disc leaves something 'perplexed "Preaching to the Perverted" is an album that you should not judge the first taste, but only after it tasted good.

DISCO EVENTO - DUE RECENSIONI A CONFRONTO - RADIOHEAD: "The King Of Limbs" (2011, XL) (Mazzoli, Dimauro)

"The King of Limbs" is not just, as you well know, the last disc of Radiohead, the British group survived the nineties, suspended musically between rock and electronica. It 's a real event: in order to understand just take a peek at the web world. On the webzine, on many social networks (F acebook, Twitter ) chasing the first rumors on Youtube appears the video of the first extract Lotus Flowe r , with the protagonist an unprecedented scene Thom Yorke, dressed as a dancer unleashed almost tarantula. In the end it is not surprising that much, the premises were already all. Already then output "In Rainbows" , the Radiohead had displaced the public, professionals, the mechanisms record, making available the download of the record coming out on the official website. Given the success of the operation in 2007, the band will try again today to the gleam of 2011, there is only a small change in strategy, the price of the download is not a free choice of consumers, but was granted a range of departure amounted to € 7. We go to the heart of the disc to explore the deepest bowels of "The King of Limbs" . The album opens with Bloom . An opening environment: the drum machine is in the foreground, intoxicating, repetitive, seductive. In the distance, classical references in the background, violins between the lively and wistful and elusive in the name of an opening melody of the piano, interrupted by a flurry of electronic echoes. Atmospheres nebulae, dark, enigmatic rage to become obsessive, disturbing. Whirlpools sound that is easy to get lost. echo the vocal harmonies between fluctuating electrical rhythms ( Morning Mr. Magpie ). Rare rays of light illuminate the landscape, as if the moon had disappeared from the horizon. Among oriental scenes, glimpses creaking, fleeting guitar arpeggios, makes its way into a growing rich in pathos the stregante sigh of Yorke ( Little by little ). In the deepest dark, the guitar riffs are now trapped by the quicksand of hostage Synthetizer and drum machine, chromatic sound protagonists of the disc. But from the sounds of Scie intermittent sobs explode unexpectedly, between sea and mountains of decibels ( Feral ). Forget the conditions described electronic, having tasted the joy of the dancers pitfalls Lotus Flower (Lotus Flower ), It is time to be lulled by the sweet-bitter ballads, then tone minimal space. No electronic device this time, only voice and guitar / piano ( Codex , Give up the ghost ). These are the new Radiohead , torn between embracing the coldness of the drum machine and acoustic intimacy. ( Separator )

's review of Franco Lys Dimauro

The great thing was being able to run faster than those who followed them: fans, musicians and reviewers. Speed \u200b\u200bup just when everyone seems happy to be at your side, on top of the world. Become elusive first, then aliens. From the land

expect all the signs of their spaceship. Waiting for new songs that no land will ever sing. And this time it comes eight, that rain first download and then lay down like drops of paint on canvas and paper in one of the most beautiful packaging I have ever been bundled with a disc. Eight tracks
immersed in this amniotic placenta that has become the music of the English quintet, a generator of Van De Graaff perpetually crossed by small electric shock in a musical workshop where alienating rhythmic jerks (the pattern of dubstep Bloom, the obsessive scanning Morning Mr. Magpie , the babbling obsessive Feral ) and glacial landscapes moon (piano bewildered Codex, the guitar and the voices of suspended Give up the ghost ) drawing Mars architecture and disturbing while Thom Yorke continues to scan the pain, with his tone flat and unsympathetic.
"The king of limbs " grants us the magic of Little by little which is perhaps the closest thing to a song i wrote Radiohead have since decided to leave the land and a Lotus Flower which is the prototype of a soul song written on Alpha Centauri, at 4.36 years and the usual light-stifling mesh optical fiber wrapped around the music of Radiohead the days of "Kid A" .

REISSUES – THE RESIDENTS: “Not Available" (1978, Ralph Records - 2011 Vynil, MDV Audio) + The Residents Connection

From the end of February is finally in stores this Italian reprint of "Not Available " , vinyl and most coveted by collectors and fans of Residents , tireless and very active researchers in the round in 2012 will celebrate their fortieth anniversary. The disc, as in his first outing of 1978 (Ralph Records ) the same tracklist of five tracks that divide the concept work, extended to seven more minutes. Another eye-catching novelty that gives us the reissue of the vinyl, MDV Audio of published with the support of Cryptic Corporation, is a keypass that allows you to download additional unpublished material on the disc recording, which took place in 1974.

The Residents Connection

1. Lighting the darkness. Forty years of pioneering a path along prophecies and desecration, anonymity and noisy. The Ralph Records, the Cryptic Corporation

The history of Residents can really define, since its inception in 1969, as the most successful parody of existential ills of our society's inner conflict caused by a booming impersonal and chaotic that carries within it the seeds of decline, the desolation of a return to the primordial most inhuman and alienated. It 's a story that crosses the boundaries of music to project on an explicit social criticism, philosophical anthropology and degeneration of our time, but destined, like shooting poorly understood prophetic cry, to remain unheard and misunderstood, at least until the end of 1978. First, because these characters, cryptic and anonymous to this day, not ever built yet another of their popular counterculture manifesto or their alternative way of being, remained very secluded from the limelight, they could not do their the contradictions of a mass society and mediaticizzata. Through the clever move to create their own independent label, Ralph Records precisely the (two collections Ralph Records Highly recommended avant-garde scene of San Francisco late 70s - early 80s: "Subterranean Modern" (1979) and "Frank Johnson's Favorites " (1981) with songs of Residents, Chrome , Tuxedo Moon, MX-80 Sound, Snakefinger etc.) always with an administration that they orchestrated the Cryptic Corporation, since 1972 began to implement their masterful work of dissociation by the laws of the market and the business media connected to the world of music. They were the embodiment of 'theory of darkness' and not appear but I would also add dell'imprendibile and the ineffable, because their isolation was the result of their excessive coherence and ability to see beyond. Said to have taken inspiration from guru Nicolas Senada , a figure historically never clearly delineated, perhaps a Bavarian composer whose traces have been lost in the merciless vortex of time, maybe just a character brought up ad hoc vaticinante support their philosophy of rejection. Worked out a subtle and ingenious design of repudiation and non-alignment still seems difficult to understand: not available , indeed, to our minds numbed by the mechanisms of modernity.

2. Paradoxes Resident of s
started to list some proverbial paradoxes that their strategic and irreverent director managed to weave, we are in 1972, the then U.S. president Richard Nixon , Frank Zappa and other distinguished American characters, are seen to deliver a bizarre 'Christmas present', an EP titled "Santa Dog" , a gimmick that's brilliant. The cover depicts a dog dressed as Santa Claus, if you make an anagram of Santa Dog can also come out Dog Satan: the seeds of conflict were thrown, the play of opposites, and all the other di tutto, il non sense che assume senso, la spazzatura che emerge dietro il sipario e il loro sapiente riciclaggio che altro non è che il riesumare i fantasmi che più ci fanno orrore e mai vorremmo vedere. Altra bizzarria della sorte vi fu nel 1970, dei demo fatti recapitare a un produttore della Warner Bros (la stessa che aveva saputo intuire il talento di Captain Beefheart !) furono sbrigativamente rimandati al mittente, anzi no, il mittente non era specificato, residents of the address indicated and so it was that in addition to provide identity in a non-identity, they do not reside in a residence, the legend imagination that shaped them and gave it form, has come to make them shine in all their wisdom silenced, the talent passed over in silence the dull indifference, putting to shame the indifference as ever unable to distinguish between art, originality, rejection and false myths.

Not Available
In the midst of this bizarre story, secluded voice of obstinacy and lack of communication of modern communication, it must surely be ascribed to the fate "Not available" . The out of print music industry, repudiated by the mainstream culture and which required saccenze fashions and styles, was intended to be a trendsetter in inverse proportion to the silence and the underhand that contraddistinsero design. Recorded in 1974, for unexplained reasons, and (as usual) obscure, the press was given only four years later.
In keeping with their desire for anonymity and to mock the entire distribution channel that speculated about art by giving value based on summary judgments, or simply with the intent to promote what most responded to the dictates of popularity, they deliver their first all disks in circulation limited rather limited. When America and the machinery of consumer notice them, their response is not available.
"Not available" is their philosophical manifesto, their mission statement: a brave fight against consumerism and the approval in place not by denying or escaping but exaggerates what determines them, showing the horrible side and stinging. These monstrous eyeballs with a lot of tuba, which escapes from impeccable tuxedo, they want to represent our blindness, lack of stimulation caused by a receptive and impersonal technology's sake, the morbidity of wanting to be cutting edge without being able to dominate progress, regression, devolution to the stadium more crude and primitive.
The ten thousand copies were sold almost become a cult object, true rarity for a select few. In 1988 the album was reissued again by Torso in CD and vinyl but the distribution was still relatively small in vinyl (we speak of only 60,000 copies).
since 1987 due to some financial troubles and the series of projects carried out laborious and often not entered, the band still had to submit to market forces that have always condemned, ceding control of part of the Ralph label, which still continued to meet the original criteria of the founders projects and support of highly respected bands such as: Chrome , Mx-80 Sound, Tuxedomoon, Renaldo and the Loaf , over the work of their faithful collaborator Philip Lithman , aka Snakefinger . All this time, the Residents have continued with imagination and creativity to define the pinnacle of the musical, to explore the possibilities of multimedia in scope, becoming more and more pioneers dell'autosponsorizzazione inextricably linked to its own distribution channels (mail order managed by the cryptic and then via the web) allowing the dissemination of the material only with their consent. A vast repertoire of albums, short films, video, film projects and touring shows. The sound that characterizes
Not Available is a masterpiece of aural manipulation, a collage of sounds freely assembled mo 'of choral symphonic work. Since the opening track Edweena leaked dark and disturbing atmosphere skillfully blurred with the support of mechanical and computer macabre used 'in reverse', a thick veil of shadow seems to wrap around both the acoustic linguistic, and certainly not easy listening 'unavailable' for those who do not have to accept it with the soul, for those who can not ride the many emotional currents that characterize it.
Jerseys hypnotic percussion, vocals, strings and horns that are highly evocative sensory spirals, which bring us to unexplored places and seductive. It no longer matters if the rhymes lose either way if the ensemble does not have a logical and harmonious rhythm, we sucked, we are at the mercy of these currents disrupted. The making of a soul passage begins with a delicate piano and brings balance to the characters that alternate in their loss, the sad, the beautiful, the bizarre.
unanswered questions that are floating thin out the sound and bring us to the size of disturbing silence: Ship's A'going dow n is a dark abyss where we are forced to get off, the voices seem to complain of relentless existential suffering of evils. With Never Known Questions tension arrives in a lush landscape of rest which carries with it the vibrations of fatal resignation, defeat, returning to the noise, the soothing melody of the piano is sometimes broken into sounds shrill. Followed by a swarm of 'ok, ok, ok, ok' almost obsessive, what can they be? Rendering, lighting, a clear acceptance? All this translates into an additional demand "To exist to show, or to be shown? Is never a question, never known" .
